The BEAST

A 280 BHP Lotus / Caterham Seven sports car features prominently in the story. The car is based on a highly modified lightweight Caterham Seven HPC that Andrew owned and developed with James Whiting and Dick Dixon before emigrating to the USA. He competed in this car extensively in England, where it earned the distinction of being rated the fastest street car in the country, winning the Autocar 0—100—0 mph challenge in 1992.

The following year it consistently beat a one million pounds McLaren F1 car, much to the chagrin of its ex Formula 1 star test driver, Jonathan Palmer, while lapping the Goodwood motor racing circuit in Sussex.  Number plate A 7 BDG: Fuel Injected Cosworth Formula 2 BDG.
